Early Childhood
Program Information
Antioch CCSD 34 offers a needs-based early childhood special education pre-kindergarten program. The program is tuition free; however, there is a registration fee. Students can be found eligible for this program by participating in the district's Special Education screening, PFA screening, or through an Early Intervention referral. Students in this program have an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
The program meets five days a week and has AM and PM sections. Placement in AM vs PM is based on your home address. Transportation to and from school is available.

1. Child must be at least 2 years 10 months old on or before the date of the screening. A certified birth certificate is required to participate in the screening.
2. Child/family must be District 34 resident. Proof of residency is required to participate in the screening.
We will not start the screening process unless the birth certificate and proof of residency is available at the screening appointment.
Special Education Screening Procedures
The screening will consist of a developmental assessment, the DIAL-4. We will be looking at the following areas of development: concept/cognitive, motor, speech/language, self-help, and social-emotional.
Special Education Evaluations:
A special education evaluation is completed if the special education screening indicated a concern in one or more areas of development. The purpose of a special education evaluation is to determine a child's eligibility to receive services (speech/language, academic support, motor, etc.) within the school setting. If a student is found eligible, the ECAT team and family will develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that outlines service minutes, goals, accommodations/supports, and placement options. Placement options might include:
- No Placement (there are no special education concerns)
-
Itinerant Services (there are special education concerns only in the area of speech/language)
-
Early Childhood or Structured Learning Program Special Education Classrooms (there are special education concerns in multiple areas)
-
Other (there are individualized options based on need)
If found eligible for special education services, students may start services/placement on their 3rd birthday.
